An investigation of the Formability Behaviour of High Strength Aluminium Alloys Using Different Heat Assisted Forming Processes

The usage of ultra-high strength aluminium alloys (EN AW-7000 series) offers a great weight saving potential due to the high rigidity and specific values. Various heat assisted forming technologies have been developed in order improve limited formability at room temperature thus be able increase geometrical complexity such sheet metal parts. In this study behaviour EN AW-7021 alloy is described as function process corresponding profile. limit curves (FLCs) are obtained by experimental Nakajima tests using Warmforming, Hotforming, extended Hotforming W-Temper route. For purpose, testing tool designed according ISO 12004 standard which allows operating temperatures up 200 °C.
